Come With Me to Bite Beauty Lip Lab | Travel Vlog | Passport Beauty #1

Tuesday, January 5, 2016

When I was in New York, I visited a couple of beauty hot spots. Come along with me as I visit Bite Beauty Lip Lab in SoHo for the first time.

While strolling around SoHo, trying to find Birchbox. I stumble upon Bite Beauty Lip Lab. Although walk-ins are welcome, I've heard that it gets crazy busy during the weekends! So make sure you give them a ring beforehand to avoid a long wait time. Luckily for me, I stumble upon this miraculous place on a Wednesday. They were able to take me in right away and I walked out of there with a customized lipstick within 20 minutes!

Bite Beauty is known for their pigmented colors, but more importantly, what they put into their products. Like I mentioned before, it is important to be aware of what you put onto your skin because your skin will just eat it up. Bite gets this concept and have provided great products with healthy and natural ingredients! It's even in their name!

It was a lot of fun for me to see my lip scientist help me concoct a Kylie Jenner inspired nude lipstick. The prefect shade of nudes and reds are so hard to find and what may work for someone may not work for another. So, to have a prefect shade of nude that was made just for me was a huge relief and extremely satisfying! It was also fun to design my lipstick package and choose a scent or two for my lipstick.  Totally worth the splurge!

Fall Back in Love with Berry Lips | Autumn/Fall Beauty

Tuesday, September 15, 2015

Starting next week, it's going to be fall! That means berry lips and nails are going to be worn from now to next season. Let's not forget about leggings, sweaters, and cute booties either! Oh, how I love fall. Fall is also the season of pumpkin spice lattes with lipstick prints on every white coffee lids. Can you say or more like hastag: #instagram #basic #yum. To get ready for fall (and Instagram), here are three of my favorite fall lipsticks.

1. Clinique in Different Grape
This is my go-to and almost everyday lipstick. I wear it to brunch, late night drinks, and even to work. Spring or fall, the season doesn't matter. While Different Grape is a deeper shade on my best friend who is fair, it is the perfect tint against my skin tone. So depending on your skin color, it may be the perfect berry lipstick or just the perfect "I just ate a bunch of blackberries" tint. It's smooth and easy to slap on without a mirror. I've even considered buying a few more to keep in my work bag, purse, and at home. A girl can never have too much lipstick!

2. YSL in Forbidden Burgundy
I save this lipstick for special occasions. It's the perfect dark berry lipstick, but also very build-able. You can apply lightly for a more berry tint or you can apply a few layers for the perfect shade of dark berry to your liking. With this lipstick, you will need a mirror. It's easy to build, but it's unforgivable. By that, I mean that it bleeds without a liner, you might look like Miranda Sings if you apply it without a mirror, and it's not an easy lipstick to eat with. Especially cheeseburgers, trust me. However, YSL is by far my favorite lipstick. Although it's a little pricy for a lipstick, YSL is extremely moisturizing and smells fantastic. It smells like Jolly Ranchers to me!

3. MAC in Russian Red
I know, I know...this is red and not at all berry, but sometimes a classic red is the way to go. You can do no wrong with a good red lipstick. This is the first red lipstick that I have ever gotten and the one color that can pull me out of a funk. Russian Red also has a blue undertone, meaning your not so white teeth may appear pearly white to others. If that doesn't give you some sense of power, I don't know what would (but maybe an all black attire with Russian Red).

Beauty Tip: Plucker Up and Protect Your Lips!

Sunday, November 16, 2014

Happy Sunday!

I'm sure that a lot of us are guilty with neglecting our lips. We think that smearing on lip balm is enough to keep them moisturized and protected, while lathering and treating everything around our face from cleansers, exfoliants, serums, moisturizers and SPF. But sadly, our lips rarely get that much loving. Protecting your lips is important, because it's expose to harsh and unpredictable weather, and dun...dun...dun...sunlight! Our lips also has a very thin protective layer and can easily crack from lack of care, which can be very painful and may lead to infection! Plus, what's the point of applying lipstick if your lips are dry and flaky?

Here are my steps on obtaining soft, smooth, and healthy lips:

1. Cleanse
Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse! I know, I know, you know, but believe it or not, cleansing one's lip is often forgotten! I normally just take a cotton pad, dab Image Skincare's Vital C Cleanser and add some water (of course you can just cleanse your lips as you're washing your face). What I love about this cleanser is that it's creamy, ultra-hydrating, and paraben free!

2. Refine & moisturize
Grab your old toothbrush (or a mascara wand), Vaseline and just move your toothbrush in circular motion until you effectively remove the majority of the dead skin cells or until it feels soft enough for you! If you're not busy, lazy, or just in need of some extra lip loving. Mix some brown sugar, honey, and coconut oil to get a deep exfoliation! Both are excellent for exfoliating and moisturizing your lips!

Tip: If you're traveling or feeling like "ain't nobody got time for that", I recommend getting a lip scrub. There are many lip scrubs out there, but I love Burt's Bee Soothing Lip Balm with Eucalyptus and Menthol. It's not often used as a lip scrub, but it's amazing and I always feel like the product is bead-y enough to use as a go-to exfoliant! It's also inexpensive and you don't have to worry about contaminating it with your fingers, which I appreciate and love!

3. Protect
This is something a lot of people forget! We protect our face from sun exposure, but don't realize that our lips needs a little SPF loving too! To protect my lips from sun damage and well moisturized, my go-to SPF lip balm is Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15.

4. Put on your favorite fall lipstick
Ahh! Isn't this the fun part? My two favorite fall lipstick is Chanel Rouge Allure Adorable (what's more adorable about this lipstick is that my adorable 79 year old grandma gave me this!) and YSL Rouge Volupté Forbidden Burgundy. Chanel Rouge Allure Adorable is more natural and I normally grab this lipstick when I'm in a rush or just want a little color. YSL Rouge Volupté Forbidden Burgundy is POP POP POP! It's my go-to when I feel a little down or a night out in the city with my girls!
